Viruses and spyware not only slow down your computer, but can also lead to privacy issues and even identity theft. They should be removed from your computer immediately, especially if it’s used for banking or office work.
Even if you have anti-virus software you could still be at risk. If you think you might have viruses, bring your computer into the store for free diagnostics or a tuneup. Virus removal is our specialty!
Signs you may have a virus:
- Slow computer
- Excessive popups (even when not browsing the web)
- Strange icons on the desktop
- Bluescreens
- OS error messages
- Anti-virus warnings
- Fake anti-virus constantly “scanning” your PC and listing bogus threats*
*Sometimes it can be hard to distinguish between fake anti-virus programs (which are viruses themselves and must be removed) and your actual anti-virus (which shouldn’t be ignored if there are legitimate threats on your computer). As a general rule of thumb, if you can’t get it off your screen, it’s most likely a virus. Here’s some pictures of fake AV viruses so you can see what they look like.
